Lexi was my best friend, most loyal companion and was the inspiration behind my photography and rescue work.
Lexi and I loved hiking and started climbing the New England 100 highest peaks together. We shared endless days on Cape Cod and she had a life that was filled with love and adventure. Lexi also loved being a big sister to Haley. When Lexi was diagnosed with cancer, we packed up the car with camera and headed to her favorite spot. It was on the shores of Cape Cod where we spent our final days together.
Lexi passed away in 2011, four days before her seventh birthday.
It was during my process of grieving that I realized the power of a picture. As an amateur photographer, I had captured and frozen so many special moments in time that now became treasures that I would cherish forever. It was during this time that I decided to turn my sorrow into something positive and began volunteering at a start-up shelter photographing dogs in need and helping them find their forever home.
I continue to volunteer 1 day per week at the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter in Turners Falls, MA.
